Greenwich

Today we went out to Greenwich. This is the University of Greenwich, which used to be a Naval Hospital. In the distance, across the River Themes, is the modern Canary Wharf, where my Brother in Law James works. I love the contrast of the old and new.
On the University grounds. The Queens House in the distance.
Waiting for the train.
Charlies Angels found a letterbox.
Freshly changed out of their superman suits.
Royal Greenwich Observatory 24 hour clock.
What lovely sweets. Only allowed to window shop.
Another one for Grandad. The new planetarium, just outside the observatory.
Straddling the prime meridian at 0 degrees.

Hastings

Today we got up early and took the train south to Hastings.
Having our picnic on the beach in, we attracted a flock of very hungry seagulls
Standing on the beach, looking towards the bluff where there are ruins of a castle.

The surf.
On the sea wall.Heidi had a growing spurt and is now 8 feet tall.

Royal Tunbridge Wells

Today Cathy and James toured us around Tunbridge Wells, where they live. This photo is to please my Dad. Greggs is his favorite cake shop! Not available in Canada!
This is the 17th century area of town, It is so nicely maintained. Here is a link to the town web site for more information. http://www.visittunbridgewells.com/
The dipping well lady gave us samples of the healing waters, tasted very strongly of iron. Did'nt have much effect on the jet lag though.

The flight.

Vancouver Airport. All our bags were packed, we were ready to fly.

Keith nodded off in the departure lounge. We had to be up at 5.30 am . We had a little chuckle as his head kept nodding down and then popping back up.On the jet plane.Watching the sun rise over Scotland.   From Gatwick airport, we took the train to London Bridge Station, where we met up with my sister Cathy and family. I was really thrilled, when little Matthew saw me, that he came running up to me with a huge smile and threw himself in my arms.

Welcome

Welcome to our holiday blog! I have sent a link for this blog to many of our friends and family. For security reasons, we are keeping it fairly annonymous as we did not wish to advertize to the general population that we are away for three weeks.

This is the place where we will post photos and adventures of our holiday. We hope you will join us and please leave comments so we know you have been here!

Here is our first photo, as we prepare to leave. Do you see the little stowaway trying to hide in our luggage?

Tommorow mornng we leave Vancouver and head to London.
